Review Toyota Matrix 2009-The Toyota Matrix is available in three trim levels of front-wheel drive (Base, S and XRS) and AWD trim levels (S). The 1.8 liter four-cylinder found in the base coating produces 132 horsepower, all other models are equipped with a 158 hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder. Transmissions available are a five-speed manual, four-speed automatic and a five-speed automatic with manual shift control. Each array is equipped with a set of security features, including front side airbags, front and rear curtain airbags, front active head restraints and anti-lock disc brakes, stability control (VSC), including control of traction and brake assist is standard on XRS and optional on all other models.
